Printing Results

Here is the report from the silk screen workshop I took a few weeks ago.

The house heat eventually came on and I was able to dry the packets to set the pigment.

I lay the packets on the radiator.

I was so pleased most of the print was still visible.

I did not lose any of the designs.

I love the textures I've created.

Not sure yet what I will do with these pieces.

Holidays

Summer holidays are starting soon.

Many shops are preparing for their closures, like the "macelleria" (butcher shop) near my house that is closing from July 6 to August 24... now that is a holiday!!

I don't think an artist ever goes on holiday.

The brain is always alert to new designs and new inspirations.

I leave Verona on Wednesday for the south and have packed my sketch book.

At the end of last summer, my friend and I planned to do some fabric dying this summer using natural materials like local plants but it gets so hot down there....

Making my Own Fabric

I always have my camera in my purse.

I noticed some of the advertisements on the street posts were 'altered' because of the big rains that had fallen during the night.

I printed those photographs on treated cotton fabric (Printed Treasures by Dritz)

I love the text that you barely see.

I like the texture.

I may print it again and alter the colour slightly.

I will eventually be using this 'new fabric' for an art piece.

Don't ask me why

About 4 years ago, I started sewing together strips, end to end, left over from my cotton fabrics, making one very long fabric string...which turned into a knitting project.

It goes with what I believe in - using what you have, making it work, managing. There is a word for this in italian- ARRANGIARSI. The people in the south of Italy understand this concept. They use it when they cook. They create wonderful meals from little!

Not sure how I will use it. Patience. The right use will show itself in due time.

I will keep knitting.

I do love the colours and texture.
