In the spring of 2013, I took a small group of Canadians to Verona for an experience they will never forget.

The magazine invited me to write about the textile festival, Verona Tessile, and to give the readers some insight on the trip I plan around this festival. What great publicity!! The magazine has a readership of 20,000. Impressive.

The other thing the Canadian Quilter's Association did was invite me to exhibit one of my works in their Invitational Quilt Show which will be included in Quilt Canada 2014. The works will be exhibited from June 11 to 14 at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. I have looked at my works and there is nothing I want to submit. I've got to get busy making something. I don't want to pass up this opportunity. I was honoured to be invited. I must submit something grand! How intimidating.

Note: Travellers on my trip to Verona don't necessarily have to be Canadian or live in my city because the actual trip starts at the Verona airport. Last year we had a Canadian living in France join us!

Taking Down the Exhibits

The Canadians left early Sunday morning.

It was suppose to be my 'rest' day but instead I did an interview ...

...and then helped out at the Loggia Barbaro. I explained the Minerals' exhibit. Some of the visitors were friends and students from other parts of Italy that I was happy to catch up with. All spectators were very interested in the works even if they were not in the textile field.

It was packed.

Our tour guide, Christina Zuegg, received an award for her piece in the International Juried Exhibit "...E Lucean le Stelle".

The next day we took down everything.

Today, they got packed up and are ready to mail back to the makers.

That timing is amazing! There were about 200 works. See what happens when people work as a team?

Photo Album

For the exhibit Tradition in Transition, I thought it would be interesting to add a photo album of Canadian landscapes seeing as our surroundings affect the work we produce.

I asked all participating artists to send me some images of their part of the country to share with the exhibit visitors in France.

The album will start with images from the west and go 'across the country' ending with photos from Newfoundland.

Today, I got them printed...and unfortunately will have to go back to the printers because all images in portrait orientation were printed in a landscape orientation!

How Canadian is this?

A student came to a textile workshop with a hockey bag filled with fabric. LOVE IT!!

I'm giving a talk on September 13, at 13:00 in the Theatre of Ste-Marie-aux-Mines, France, entitled "Canadian Inspiration". I want to put that picture in my power point! It's sooooo Canadian!
