Exhibit in Valmalenco

I had a very busy year concentrating on curating "Tradition in Transition" and was only able to produced three art pieces.

One of them was for an exhibit by invitation from the association, Quilt Italia.

The inspiration for the works was Le Città Invisibili, a novel by well known italian writer, Italo Calvino. The idea to create a body of work inspired by this book was that of past vice president of the association, Gabriella Manara.

Each piece was to measure 1 metre x 2 metres.

I posted during the year about the work in progress but never posted an image of the entire piece.

Now that it has been exhibited in Valmalenco, Italy, for the first time, I feel I can post it.

Crossed Off My List

All the final details have been done- adding the sleeve, making the label and signing the work.

I am off to the post office to send my latest work to Rome...unfortunately, I am unable to get it photographed before it goes. I'll have to get it done there.

More Dying

I dyed another piece of thin, open weave, white muslin.

I used different sizes of elastics to tie the fabric before I submerged it in the dye bath, something that I have experimented with before.

That gave me the shapes.

I did fill some of the shapes with seeds. Last time I did that I got some interesting designs but not so much this time.

I may use it for my on-line class.

On-Line Class

Usually Wednesday is my messy day but this week I made my mess on Monday.

I dyed cotton fabric for my on-line course with Dijanne Cevaal.

I have been cleaning up my basement and found a tie-dye kit from one of the kids. There was a little dye left so I used it on another piece of cotton.

I think I will try dying some silk. I am getting the hang of this...it's not as scary as I thought.
