BIG

I have always wanted to be in a giant room with a giant painting.... ALONE. And it happened at the Musee National d'Art Moderne in Orleans, France, this summer.

I mean, when do you go to a museum and NO ONE is in a room?

A rare occurrence.

I was so happy. I was there for half an hour - alone- enjoying this giant art piece, getting lost in it.  It was so big. No one talked. No one walked in front of me. Bellissimo!!

Heaven.

The Radiation Exhibit Continues

This post is about a show that happened in Lennep, Germany a few weeks ago.

The Radiation exhibit, or "Strahlung" exhibit, was divided between two museums because of its size. It was a cooperation between the Tuchmuseum (textile museum) and the Deutsche Röntgen Museum across the street. Doctor Wilhelm Röntgen invented the x-ray so it was fitting the exhibit went there.

Mine was at the textile museum and I heard the interest and attendance was high which made the museum very happy! To see some of the history of this exhibit click here and here and here.

This exhibit is going to be shown once more in June in Celle, Germany, at a patchwork day and then my piece will be mailed back after 2 years of touring.

Touring Exhibit

Back in June, I participated in a textile show. The theme; Radiation. To read about it click here and here.

I did not attend the exhibit in Geneva, Switzerland but I recently heard from German curator, Angelika Henrichs, that it was very well received.

This exhibit has been invited to the Carrefour Européen du Patchwork, 20th anniversary, in Val D'Argent, France (September 2014) and at the Patchworktreffen in Prague, Czech Republic (April 2015).

It was an honour to be invited to participate!

Textile Exhibit in Geneva, Switzerland

If you are in Geneva, Switzerland or close by, I have a piece in this exhibit of textile art initiated by the German-Swiss Association for Radiation Protection.

80 works. 11 countries.

Science and art.

“Why do we do science?
Why do we do art?
It is the things that are not directly necessary for
survival that make us human.”

a quote from the film Particle Fever, a film about the research at CERN... yes I went to see this movie! Remember my husband is a scientist.
