Video Art

Artist Samuel Rowlett has a video art piece at the Art Gallery of Peterborough. It's part of the Artists' Walks exhibit.

If you click here you can see his video, Landscape Painting in the Expanded Field 2013.

The curator, Earl Miller, chose works in different mediums by artists who use walking as part of their practice. It has become popular enough to be called a genre.

I loved the shadows nature painted on Rowlett's canvas as he walked through the woods.

Some of his video was beautiful.

Sometimes it was hilarious, like when he tried walking through the dense forest in winter! He could barely move and you heard a bunch of branches breaking. He was all tangled up. Luckily, I was the only one in the gallery at the time because I was laughing out loud!

I made his work interactive!

That's my shadow as I walk between the projector and the screen…
chasing the canvas.

Textile artist Dorothy Caldwell will be having an exhibit there from March 21 to June 1, 2014.

Expression for All Senses

I saw this piece in Paris.

We Stopped Just Here at the Time, 2002, detail,
by Ernesto Neto (1964-)

It's installed in a perfect spot at the end of a hallway at the Centre Pompidou and can be seen from far away.

We Stopped Just Here at the Time, by Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto.

The viewer participates in a sensorial experience.

It's a sculpture made of fabric and spices- cloves, cumin, pepper, curcuma. The smells arouse the senses. I feel the weight of it by looking at it. From reading about this artist, I see many of his works are interactive but I saw no one venture into this space.

You can see an interview where he speaks about another piece he installed, The Edges of the World, at the Hayward Gallery in London, England, by clicking here.

Omni News interview

Click here to view the interview. (THE INTERVIEW IS NOT AVAILABLE AFTER SEPT. 1, 2011)

Click Italian News Ontario-July 7, 2011, which is on the right of the video screen.

The interview is at 17:50 minutes.

The interviewer, Laura D'Aprile, filmed all the works in the show. Two of them are mine. She also got some shots of some of my other art works and blankets that are not exhibited in the gallery.

Siamo Donne

We are women...and one man.

Daniele Mendini and Marina Tavella, the brains behind Siamo Donne

Marina is primarily a textile artist and Daniele is a professional photographer who has photographed some of my art pieces for catalogues.

Back at the end of May while I was in Verona, they invited me to film 3 video recipe segments for their website, siamodonne

They asked me for Canadian recipes so I chose pancakes with maple syrup, of course, chocolate chip cookies and apple pie.
